Weight Class Outlook:

Jordin James - Mt. Union was unable to compete last season due to COVID, and will most likely not compete until the second semester of this year. James’s absence allowed Elmhurst College’s Jimmy McAuliffe to steal the show and win the NWCA Nationals. Headed into the ‘21-’22 season McAuliffe looks to be a serious title contender again come March. McAuliffe and James are the only returning All-Americans at 141, McAuliffe finished 7th at 141 pounds as a freshman in 2018, while James won NCAA National Championship in 2019 at 133 pounds.

There are numerous returning seeded wrestlers from the 2020 National Championships vying for the top spot, and this contingent is led by the 2020 NCAA National Championships #1 seed (133) and 2x NCAA National Qualifier from Wartburg, Kristian Rumph. McAuliffe and Rumph wrestled in the finals of the 2021 NWCA Nationals with McAuliffe getting the better of Rumph defeating him 6-3.

Transfer Evan Fidelibus - New England College, electrified Division 3 wrestling in 2020 with 25 pins on the season. He earned the #6 seed after finishing 2nd at the Northeast Regional at 149 pounds. Jarrod Brezovec of John Carroll, and Joseph Rossetti of Williams College, are both vying for their third visit to the NCAA Championships and are experienced contenders to get on the podium come March.

With all the returning fire power and the addition of Hayden Brown - Johnson & Wales University - 2020 NCAA National Qualifier, Northeast Regional Champion, #5-Seed at 133lbs, Kyle Slendorn - Stevens Tech (2020 National Qualifier - 133, 2021 NWCA Nationals - 4th at 141), and Brock Henderson - Coe College - 2021 NWCA National Champion, 2020 National Qualifier, 141 is shaping up to be an exiting weight to watch!
